A wealthy businessman wanted his son to marry a rich woman. But his son loved Lina, a humble girl who sold vegetables at the market.
One morning, the businessman’s mother dressed in old clothes and pretended to be a hungry stranger. She approached Lina’s stall and asked for food, explaining that she had no money.
Lina gave her a bag of vegetables and all the money she had earned that morning.
“How will you buy dinner for yourself?” the old woman asked.
Lina smiled. “I can be hungry for one night. I cannot let another person suffer when I can help.”
The following week, Lina received an invitation to the family’s mansion. She was shocked when the same old woman appeared wearing an elegant dress.
“I wanted to know whether you loved my grandson for his wealth,” the woman said. “Now I know what kind of heart you have.”
She gave Lina a warm hug and welcomed her into the family.
But Lina had one request: she wanted the family to help poor children attend school.
The businessman finally understood why his son had chosen her.
