After becoming a millionaire, David felt embarrassed by his poor father, who still wore old clothes and rode an ancient bicycle.
When his father visited his new mansion, David told the security guard not to let him inside because important guests were arriving.
The old man left without arguing.
Months later, David learned that his father had been hospitalized. He rushed to the hospital and found an envelope beside the bed.
Inside were David’s childhood school certificates, old photographs, and a small notebook recording every sacrifice his father had made to pay his school fees.
On the final page, his father had written, “My son may forget me when he becomes successful, but I will never stop being proud of him.”
David broke down in tears.
He returned to the mansion, collected his father, and brought him home. He apologized, held his father’s hands, and promised never to be ashamed of him again.
His father smiled weakly. “I never needed your mansion, son. I only wanted a place in your heart.”
From that day forward, David made sure his father was never alone.
