The Rich Man Who Lost His Memory

Alexander was a wealthy businessman who had everything except time for the woman who loved him. His wife, Grace, had supported him through years of struggle, but after becoming successful, he began treating her as if she were part of his furniture.

One rainy night, Alexander suffered a serious accident and lost much of his memory.

When he woke in the hospital, he did not recognize his luxurious life or remember why his wife looked so sad.

Grace visited him every day.

She brought homemade soup, read him stories, and helped him learn ordinary routines again. Alexander slowly discovered that the woman beside him knew his favorite songs, his childhood fears, and the dreams he had forgotten.

He began falling in love with her all over again.

One evening, he asked, “Were we happy before my accident?”

Grace looked away.

“We had everything people dream about,” she answered. “But we forgot how to be together.”

Alexander felt ashamed, although he could barely remember his mistakes.

As his memory returned, he also remembered the business trips, broken promises, and lonely anniversaries.

He apologized.

Grace did not immediately forgive him. She explained that her pain could not disappear simply because he had become kinder.

Alexander listened without defending himself.

Over the following year, he changed his priorities. He reduced his workload, spent more time at home, and learned to show appreciation in ordinary ways.

Grace eventually chose to rebuild their marriage.

Their relationship became stronger, not because the accident erased their problems, but because Alexander finally faced them.

He learned that losing his memory had forced him to rediscover something he should never have forgotten: the person who stood beside him when success had made him blind.
