Every evening, an elderly woman sat beside the sea.
A young fisherman asked why.
“My husband promised he would return.”
“But when?”
“I don’t know.”
He had disappeared forty years earlier.
Still, she came every evening.
One day, she finally stopped coming.
The fisherman wondered what had happened.
He visited her house.
On the table was a note:
“I stopped waiting for him to return. Now I come to thank the sea for the years we had.”
The fisherman understood.
Waiting had become remembrance.
And remembrance had become peace.
