The Snow Village of Canada

A remote Canadian village was surrounded by snow for six months each year.

Every winter, the villagers built an enormous ice lantern.

Everyone helped.

Children carried snow.

Adults carved blocks.

Elders told stories.

One year, a young boy asked:

“Why do we build it every year if it melts?”

The village elder answered:

“Because beautiful things don’t have to last forever to matter.”

The boy remembered that lesson.

Years later, he became an architect.

Whenever he designed something, he focused not only on how long it would last, but on how people would feel while experiencing it.
