The House Beneath the Olive Tree

In southern Italy stood an old olive tree beside a tiny stone house.

A family had lived there for generations.

Each generation carved its name into the tree.

Grandfather.

Mother.

Child.

Grandchild.

The tree became a living family history.

One summer, a storm damaged one of its largest branches.

The family thought the tree was dying.

They cared for it carefully.

New branches appeared.

Years later, the tree became stronger than before.

The youngest child asked:

“How can something damaged grow again?”

His grandmother answered:

“Because life doesn’t always return to what it was. Sometimes it grows in a new direction.”

The child never forgot that lesson.
