Along the coast of Vietnam, fishermen spoke of a mysterious wooden boat that appeared during foggy mornings.
It had no captain.
One day, a fisherman named Minh saw it drifting near the shore.
He climbed aboard.
The boat was old but perfectly maintained.
Inside was a single compass pointing toward a small island.
Minh followed it.
On the island, he found an abandoned lighthouse and a collection of letters.
They had been written by a lighthouse keeper who had disappeared decades earlier.
The final letter said:
“If someone finds these words, please keep the light alive.”
Minh repaired the lighthouse.
Every evening, he lit the lamp.
Years passed.
The mysterious boat never returned.
But ships began using the lighthouse as a guide.
Minh eventually became known throughout the region as the keeper of the forgotten light.
He never discovered who had sent the boat.
But he believed the mystery had brought him to exactly where he was needed.
