The Last Train at Midnight

The Last Train at Midnight

A lonely railway station deep in the countryside only receives one train after midnight. Locals say nobody should ever board it, because the passengers are not alive. A struggling journalist investigating disappearances decides to ride the train after hearing rumors about people vanishing without a trace. Inside the train, every passenger wears old-fashioned clothes from different decades, and none of them blink. The conductor speaks politely but never shows his face. As the train moves through endless darkness instead of normal landscapes, the journalist realizes each passenger is reliving the moment of their death. During the ride, the lights flicker, whispers echo through empty carriages, and mysterious announcements mention the journalist’s own name. The train stops at impossible stations that no longer exist. The protagonist discovers that years earlier, a tragic accident involving the railway killed dozens of people, and the train has returned every year searching for one missing soul. The story should include psychological horror, emotional backstories, eerie scenery, supernatural mysteries, and a final twist revealing why the journalist was truly invited aboard.
