The Voice in the Baby Monitor
New parents Elena and Chris had just moved into an old countryside house near Dublin with their newborn son.
For the first few nights, everything seemed peaceful.
Then the baby monitor started crackling after midnight.
At first, they assumed it was interference.
Until Elena heard singing.
A soft lullaby.
A woman’s voice.
She rushed upstairs expecting to find Chris in the nursery.
Instead, the room was empty except for the sleeping baby.
The singing continued through the monitor in her hand.
The next night, Chris heard it too.
At 2:43 AM, the monitor activated by itself.
Static filled the room before a whisper came through clearly:
“He’s not yours.”
Elena nearly dropped the device.
Chris searched the entire house with a flashlight but found nobody.
Days later, they asked neighbors about the property.
An older woman reluctantly revealed the truth.
Years earlier, another family had lived there. Their infant disappeared one night without explanation. The mother became obsessed with hearing her baby cry through old monitors even after police closed the case.
She eventually took her own life inside the nursery.
That night, Elena stayed awake watching her son sleep.
At exactly 2:43 AM, the baby monitor switched on again.
This time, the voice sounded angry.
“You took him from me.”
Then the nursery door slowly creaked open by itself.
