She Left Her Mansion to Sleep Beside the Man She Loved

When Elena fell in love with Peter, a poor construction worker, her parents threatened to cut her off financially. They believed she would eventually return home when she discovered how difficult life could be without money.

Elena refused to abandon Peter.

She moved into his tiny apartment, where the kitchen was barely large enough for two people. Their first night together, they shared a simple meal of rice and vegetables.

Peter felt ashamed.

“I promised to make you happy,” he said, “but I cannot even give you a comfortable bed.”

Elena held his face and smiled. “I have slept in beautiful rooms and still felt lonely. Tonight, I feel at home.”

Their life was not easy. Peter worked long shifts, and Elena found a job at a small design studio. They learned to budget carefully, celebrated inexpensive birthdays, and encouraged each other through difficult days.

One winter, Peter became seriously ill and could not work for several weeks. Elena took extra shifts and cared for him after returning home exhausted.

When he recovered, he promised to build a better future for them.

He studied construction management at night and eventually started a small renovation company. Elena helped design interiors for his projects.

Years later, they bought a comfortable home. It was not as grand as Elena’s childhood mansion, but every corner reflected their shared effort.

Her parents attended their housewarming party. Elena’s mother cried when she saw how warmly Peter welcomed everyone.

Her father finally admitted that he had mistaken luxury for happiness.

Elena hugged them both.

That evening, she and Peter sat together in their garden, remembering their first tiny apartment.
