The Poor Boy Who Gave Her His Last Dollar

One cold evening, Emily, the daughter of a wealthy businessman, discovered that her purse was missing at a crowded bus station. Her phone battery was dead, and she had no way to contact her driver.

She sat on a bench, frightened and embarrassed.

A young man named Ryan noticed her distress. He was carrying his dinner money and preparing to walk home after a long shift at a warehouse.

When Emily explained what had happened, Ryan gave her enough money for a taxi.

“What about your dinner?” she asked.

“I’ll find something when I get home,” he replied with a smile.

Emily insisted on repaying him, but Ryan refused to give her his address. He simply wished her a safe journey.

She never forgot his kindness.

Weeks later, she returned to the station at the same time, hoping to find him. After several visits, she finally recognized him carrying heavy boxes outside a nearby shop.

She thanked him and invited him for dinner. Their friendship grew, and Emily learned that Ryan was saving money to help his younger brother attend college.

Her parents were suspicious when she introduced him. They assumed he wanted financial assistance.

Ryan respectfully declined their offers of money and continued working toward his goals.

When Emily’s father later lost a major business contract, Ryan connected him with a local supplier he knew through his warehouse job. The connection helped the company recover.

Her father realized Ryan had never sought an advantage from their family.

At their wedding, Emily gave Ryan a framed note containing the amount he had lent her that night.

Beneath it, she wrote: “The smallest gift you gave me became the biggest love of my life.”
