The Love Across the Mountain

Ana lived in a mountain village.

Lucas lived on the other side of the mountain.

Their families hated each other because of an old dispute.

They were forbidden to meet.

So they found another way.

Every Sunday, Ana climbed to the highest hill and lit a lantern.

Lucas answered with his own lantern.

They could not touch.

They could not speak.

But they knew they were there.

Years passed.

The family dispute became almost forgotten, but pride remained.

Then a terrible storm destroyed the bridge connecting the villages.

Ana became trapped on one side.

Lucas crossed the dangerous river to find her.

When their families saw him risking his life, something changed.

They realized their hatred had lasted longer than the reason for it.

The two families finally rebuilt the bridge together.

At its center, Ana and Lucas were married.

During the ceremony, Ana looked at Lucas and whispered,

“We waited so long just to stand here.”

Lucas smiled.

“But now nobody can separate us.”

The bridge became a symbol of their love.

People later called it the Bridge of Two Hearts.

And every year, couples traveled there to make promises of their own.
