The Forgotten Library of Alexandria

A young historian named Layla traveled to Alexandria searching for an ancient manuscript.

For weeks, she explored old markets, museums, and forgotten buildings.

One evening, an elderly bookseller gave her a strange map.

“There is a place beneath the city,” he whispered.

Layla followed the map into an abandoned stone building.

Behind a hidden wall, she discovered a staircase leading underground.

At the bottom was a vast library.

Thousands of scrolls filled the shelves.

But the strangest thing was that every scroll seemed to contain the story of someone’s life.

Layla found one with her own name.

She opened it carefully.

The first page described her childhood.

The second described her journey to Alexandria.

The final page was blank.

A voice came from behind her.

“Everyone writes the final page themselves.”

Layla turned around.

Nobody was there.

She understood that the library was not preserving history.

It was preserving choices.

She spent the entire night reading stories of people who had lived centuries earlier.

At sunrise, she returned to the surface.

The underground entrance disappeared behind a wall.

Layla kept the map, but she never found the library again.

Years later, she became a writer.

Whenever she finished a book, she left the final page blank for a few days.

She believed that every story deserved a moment when the ending had not yet been decided.

And somewhere beneath Alexandria, perhaps the forgotten library is still waiting for the next person brave enough to open a door that history forgot.
