When the poor boy she loved became seriously ill, the rich girl’s family told her to forget him, but she refused to leave his side.
Sophie had fallen in love with Mark, a young delivery worker who studied engineering at night. Her family disliked him because he struggled to pay his bills.
Despite their differences, Mark treated Sophie with a tenderness she had never experienced in her wealthy home.
Then Mark was injured in a road accident while delivering an urgent package.
Sophie rushed to the hospital and learned that he needed treatment followed by months of rehabilitation.
Her father arrived soon afterward.
“This is exactly why you should never marry someone who cannot provide security,” he said.
Sophie looked at Mark through the hospital window.
“Security means nothing if I abandon the person I love when he needs me most.”
She stayed beside Mark, helped him attend rehabilitation sessions, and encouraged him whenever progress felt painfully slow.
Mark struggled with guilt because he could no longer work normally. He told Sophie she should leave and enjoy the life she deserved.
She held his hand.
“You are not a burden. You’re the man I love, and we will face this together.”
Slowly, Mark recovered. Sophie helped him find an engineering internship that accommodated his rehabilitation schedule.
He returned to his studies and eventually graduated with honors.
Years later, Mark designed affordable safety equipment for delivery workers, inspired by his own experience. His company grew, improving working conditions for thousands of riders.
Sophie’s father attended their wedding, humbled by the young man’s determination.
Before the ceremony, he approached Mark.
“I once believed you would make my daughter suffer. Instead, you taught her—and me—what commitment means.”
Mark smiled and embraced him.
Sophie looked at her husband and whispered, “You came into my life carrying packages.”
Mark laughed.
“And you became the most precious thing I ever carried in my heart.”
True love doesn’t promise that life will never hurt; it promises that you won’t have to face the pain alone.
