One winter evening, during a violent storm, Thomas saw a small light moving across the ocean.<\/p>\n

It was not a ship.<\/p>\n

It moved slowly toward the lighthouse, glowing like a floating candle.<\/p>\n

Thomas watched until the light disappeared beneath the waves.<\/p>\n

The next morning, he discovered an old wooden box on the beach. Inside was a photograph of a young woman standing beside the lighthouse.<\/p>\n

On the back were six words:<\/p>\n

\u201cI promised I would come home.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

Thomas recognized the woman immediately.<\/p>\n

She was his older sister, Anna, who had disappeared at sea forty years earlier.<\/p>\n

That night, Thomas placed the photograph beside the lighthouse window.<\/p>\n

At midnight, the mysterious light appeared again.<\/p>\n

This time, it stopped directly beneath the lighthouse.<\/p>\n

Thomas opened the door and walked outside.<\/p>\n

The storm had suddenly become completely silent.<\/p>\n

Far below, among the rocks, he thought he heard a woman’s voice.<\/p>\n
